11坪の店舗付住宅
約16坪ほどの狭小敷地です。2面道路に面し、北側道路は頻繁に車が往来し、西側道路は傾斜路になって約4メートルのレベル差がありました。東側隣地は敷地境界まで建物が接近し、南側は4メートル高い位置から隣家が見下ろすかたちで建っています。
クライアントは30年来ここで住み続けいている5人家族であり、老朽化した住まいの建て替えを行い、さらに1階に貸店舗を確保することになりました。計画は、敷地の廻りから少しでも快適な要素を抽出して住まいにうまく取り込むことを目指しました。貸店舗は北側道路に入口を設けたのに対し、住まいの入口は、喧噪した北側を避け、西側道路を上がりきって建物の2階からアプローチします。寝室、リビングなどの居室はあえて北側に設け、道路を挟んだ隣地の樹木を借景とした開口部を設けました。隣地から見下ろされる南側には階段を設け、半透明の開口部からやわらかい光を下階までおとしています。最上階には壁で囲ってプライバシーが確保された庭と、リビングに直接陽光を取り入れるハイサイドライトが設けられています。
建坪約11坪であるが、コンクリートで囲い廻りの喧噪を遮断した上で、これらの「抜け」の要素をうまく配置することによって、この狭小地の住まいは快適性を実現しました。

A small house with a shop
It is a small site of about 53 square meters. It faces two roads, with frequent traffic on the north road and a slope on the west road, with a level difference of about 4 meters. The building on the neighboring land on the east side is close to the boundary line of the site, and on the south side it is built 4 meters higher.
The client is a family of five who have lived here for 30 years, and decided to rebuild their dilapidated home and set up a store on the first floor. The plan aimed to extract as many comfortable elements as possible from the surroundings of the site and incorporate them into the home. While the store has an entrance on the north road, the entrance to the home is approached from the second floor of the building, avoiding the noisy north side by climbing up the west road. The bedroom, living room, and other rooms are intentionally placed on the north side, with openings that take advantage of the trees on the neighboring land across the road. A staircase is placed on the south side, which is overlooked by the neighboring land, and soft light falls to the lower floors through a translucent opening. On the top floor, there is a garden that is enclosed by a wall to ensure privacy, and a high sidelight that brings sunlight directly into the living room.
The building area is approximately 36 square meters, but by enclosing it in concrete to block out the surrounding noise, and by cleverly arranging these elements of openness, this home on this small lot is comfortable.
