断面操作でスキマをつくり広がりと光を得る
狭小地で快適な居住性を確保するためには、断面構成の工夫が必要ですが、吹抜けを設けると、面積が削られ、要望のスペースが確保出来なくなります。この計画では最大限に面積を確保しながらも、一部の床を少し上下させることによって、天井の高い部屋と低い部屋を設け、面積を削らず高い天井のリビングダイニングを確保しています。また、床の上下によって生まれた隙間を利用して、陽光の差込み口、風の通り道、眺望用の窓、テラスを設け、明るく開放的なリビングダイニングとしています。各箇所に設けられた窓は、敷地の法的条件から、今も将来的にも確実に視線が抜ける方向に開けられ、そして道路や隣地の建物から見られない少し高い位置に調整することによって、カーテンを閉めず常にオープンに出来るようにしています。このことが、閉塞感を無くす大きな効果となっています。各個室は、リビングと断面的なはなれ具合によってプライバシーのレベルを変えています。書斎や子供部屋はリビングと近く、スキマを通して繋がっているのに対し、主寝室とゲストルームは、距離は近くても床で仕切り、完全にプライバシーを確保しています。

Creating gaps through cross-sectional manipulation to obtain spaciousness and light
In order to ensure comfortable living on a small site, it is necessary to be creative with the cross-sectional configuration, but if a void is provided, the area will be reduced and the desired space cannot be secured. This plan secures the maximum area while slightly raising and lowering some floors to provide rooms with high and low ceilings, and ensures a living and dining room with a high ceiling without reducing the area. In addition, the gaps created by the upper and lower floors are used to provide an inlet for sunlight, a breeze passage, a window for a view, and a terrace, making it a bright and open living and dining room. The windows in each location are opened in a direction that will ensure visibility now and in the future, and by adjusting them to a slightly higher position so that they cannot be seen from the road or neighboring buildings, they can always be open without closing the curtains. This has a great effect in eliminating the feeling of claustrophobia. Each private room has a different level of privacy depending on how far it is from the living room in cross-sectional terms. The study and children’s room are close to the living room and connected to it through a gap, whereas the master bedroom and guest room are close to each other but separated by a floor, ensuring complete privacy.
