平屋で多様な居場所をつくる
平屋のメリットとして、
各部屋が近く、動線が明快で使いやすい、
階段がないぶん面積を有効利用できる、
2階の床がなく地震時に1階と2階との間で折れる危険性がない、
足場無しでメンテナンスが可能、
等有利な点が多くあります。
それに対しデメリットとして、空間が単調になりがちというのがあります。
この住宅は平屋として、機能的でありながら、空間が単調でなく様々な居場所ができないかと考えました。まず、平面的に各部屋を外部に出たり引いたりする構成として、部屋ごとに外部との距離感を変えています。そして引いたところをテラスにして、内-外-内の配置を作り、外部空間を室内に取り込んでいます。また、各部屋で壁と開口部の向きを変えて、部屋ごとに見る方向が変わるようにしました。その結果、太陽光の位置、樹木との距離や背景の奥行きが各部屋で違うようにしました。さらに、各部屋で天井高さや天井勾配を変えて、断面的な操作で各部屋の量感も変えています。
このように、各部屋それぞれがグラフィックイコライザ（音の調整機）のように違う音を響かせ、住まい全体では心地よい音楽がながれているような住まいを目指しました。

Creating a variety of places in a single-story house
The advantages of a single-story house are that each room is close to the others, traffic flow is clear and easy to use, there is no stairs, so the area can be used effectively, there is no risk of the floor collapsing between the first and second floors during an earthquake because there is no second-floor floor, maintenance can be done without scaffolding, and many other advantages.
On the other hand, the disadvantage is that the space tends to be monotonous.
This house is a single-story house, and I thought about how to create a variety of places to live without monotony in the space while still being functional. First, I changed the distance from the outside to each room by configuring each room to go out and back in on a flat surface. Then, I made the backed-up areas into terraces, creating an inside-outside-inside arrangement and bringing the outside space inside. I also changed the direction of the walls and openings in each room so that the viewing direction changes from room to room. As a result, the position of the sunlight, the distance to the trees, and the depth of the background are different in each room. Furthermore, I changed the ceiling height and ceiling slope in each room, and changed the volume of each room through cross-sectional manipulation.
In this way, I aimed to create a home where each room resonates with a different sound, like a graphic equalizer, and where pleasant music plays throughout the entire house.
